must and don't have to/want to/that
I’ve often tried to correct a mistake and found that more students make the same mistake that I’ve just tried to correct.
Clearly, pointing out the error doesn’t work- maybe because of neurological reasons, the parts of the brain which deal with language processing and rules aren’t necessarily the ones we use to produce speech. It also seems to be the case that we store short term vocabulary and long term vocabulary in different areas so it’s very difficult (without a knife!) to get into these parts of the brain and uproot fossilized errors.
(nice fossilized error story here)

So in an attempt to create new neural pathways to avoid errors, we’re going to look atsongs to solve the ‘don’t have to’ and ‘want’ with the subjunctive that tend to be problems for French speakers- thinking there is no difference between mustn’t and don’t have to and using errors such as “I want that you go” instead of “I want you to go”.

You don't have to say you love me, just be close at hand
You don't have to stay forever, I will understand.
Compare with “You mustn’t say you love me”.
Want
Warning- bad language but funny
> I want you to act as a Linux terminal. I will type commands and you will reply with what the terminal should show. I want you to only reply with the terminal output inside one unique code block
